Stefano Miceli

Stefano Miceli (born April 14, 1975) is an Italian classical pianist and conductor.

He made his concert debut at the age of 11, then he moved to study to Naples at Royal Conservatory of Music "San Pietro a Majella" under the direction of international renowned Vincenzo Vitale's pupils and Roberto de Simone’s (for composition) which led him to study conducting with Donato Renzetti. Then he attended the Catholic University of America in Washington DC and the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Florence, Italy.

An interpreter of Liszt’s piano repertoire, Miceli represents the Piano Neapolitan School. In 1993 Miceli made his American debuts in New Orleans and Las Vegas and since then he toured Europe, the United States, Israel, Australia, China and South America. As a soloist and conductor he is probably best known for his arrangement and interpretations of Ástor Piazzolla's Four Seansos for piano and orchestra, playing them in the major concert halls such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Berlin Philharmonie, Fenice Opera Theatre, Great Hall in Melbourne; he has also played the full cycles of Mozart and Liszt works for piano and orchestra, as soloist and conductor.

In addition to his solo work, Miceli enjoys good relations with orchestras as conductor such as Salzburg Orchestra, Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra, Milan Scala Orchestra, Fenice Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica de Maracaibo, Orquesta de la Juventud Zuliana El Sistema, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, BCP Berlin Philharmonie, Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana, Dallas Virtuosi Orchestra, Slovak Kammerorchester, Moldova Philharmonic, Cluj orchestra, European Orchestra, Las Cruces Symphony, Sanremo Symphon Orchestra, Milan Orchestra Pomeriggi Musicali and many others. His international reputation has been built both on his concert activity and on his appearances as guest professor at universities and masterclasses in the USA, Australia and Europe. He is a faculty member at the Steinway Society Academy in Verona, Italy, "Visiting Professor" at Boston University and appointed Professor at Tanglewood Institute.

Miceli is one of five Italian Academy Foundation Artists, selected to perform regularly during the 64 year old Foundation’s Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center programmes.

Miceli is Principal Guest Artist and Conductor of Leipzig Philharmonic Orchestra[1] in Germany and in 2009 he was appointed Conductor-in-Residence of Orchestra Filarmonica Italiana in Italy. He is also the Artistic Director of the Bergamo Festival Internazionale della Cultura in Italy.

Miceli is the recipient of many national and international career prizes as Testimonial of Culture and Music in the world.

In December 2008 Miceli received a Silver Medal by the President of the Republic of Italy, Giorgio Napolitano. Miceli is a Steinway Artist.
